The Metro League has tri-champions in the Kearsley Hornets, Clio Mustangs and the Holly Bronchos. Each team posted a 10-4 league season record finishing two games ahead of the field.
Clio earns their first Metro title since joining the league in 2005. Kearsley earned their last Metro title back in 2011, also as a tri-champion with Fenton and Lapeer West, after joining the league in 2008. As an original member of the Metro in 1968, Holly’s last championship goes back the furthest with their last championship in 1977. Congratulations to our champions and to all softball teams in the league as they enter MHSAA post season competition this week.
Fenton High School has captured their 24th Metro Golf Title in the 2017 season under the direction of Coach Kurt Herbstreit who was named the Metro Coach of the Year. The Tigers finished the dual season with a 6-1 record and won both the Pre-Season and Championship Metro Tournaments.
Brandon’s Brett Hobson was the tournament medalist with a round of 80 at Fenton Farms. Completing the top 10 individual scores were: 82 - Dylan Conte – Fenton 83 – Connor Vansteenburg - Kearsley 83 – Tait Shaltz – Fenton 84 - Jack Vollmar – Kearsley 85 - Cam Beckwith – Swartz Creek 85 – Brandon Diener – Fenton 87 – Dylan Stankewicz – Flushing 88 – Brandon Lapa –Fenton 88 – Ryker Amy - Flushing 88 – Luke Harrington - Holly Fenton’s Zack West dominated Regional track performances this past weekend qualifying for the MHSAA State Finals in four events. West was the Regional champion in the 100 M, 400 M, 4x200 Relay and runner-up in the 200 for a very impressive day.

The MHSAA State Finals will be held on June 3 with the D1 Meet at East Kentwood High School and the D2 Meet at Zeeland High School.
