The Kearsley Hornets have earned the most points in the winter season with 46 to lead the Flint Metro League, topping 2nd place Flushing by 7 points. Winning a title in girls' bowling and placing 2nd in girls' basketball, competitive cheer and boys' bowl, the Hornets had a strong winter season.  After the conclusion of the fall and winter season, Fenton continues to lead the league with 104 points, 9 points ahead of second place Flushing.  Fenton has won the last 3 all-sports championships and 15 of the last 16 races.

For each varsity sport, a school receives one point for each team it finishes ahead of in the final standings, with the league champion receiving a bonus point.  Fenton won league championships in girls' golf, girls', boys' and girls' cross country, boys' soccer and boys' and girls' swim so far this year. Flushing has 93 total all-sports points going into the spring season with titles in volleyball, boys' tennis, football and boys' bowling. Holly is in 3rd place with 71.50 points followed by Swartz Creek with 70, Clio with 67, Kearsley with 62, Linden with 60, Owosso with 49 and Brandon with 48.50.

There are seven spring sports yet to compete for in the 2018-19 league sports year so expect a lot of movement in the all-sports competition between now and June.

Coach Rob Ploof led the Kearsley girls' bowling team to an unprecedented 6th consecutive D2 State Championship.....and their 7th in the past 8 years!

The Hornets finished the team qualifying rounds seeded in 1st place and proceeded to knock off Coldwater 1315-1135.  Kearsley then defeated Charlotte in the semi-finals 1332-1264 to set up the showdown between the #1 and #2 seeds for the title.  Kearsley squared off against Tecumseh, a team they had beat soundly last year in the finals, and walked away with a 1352-1239  victory and a D2 State Championship.

In the boys' D2 action, Flint Kearsley qualified in 7th but lost to New Boston Huron 1277-1359.  Owosso boys finished in 13th place in the qualifying round.

In the singles portion of the State Finals, the Metro League again had bowlers contending for titles.  In D1, Evelyn Cano from Flushing qualified in 12th place but lost in the quarterfinals.  In D2, Kearsley's Evelyn Eible (14th) and Imari Blond (1st) both qualified with Blond advancing to the quarters before losing.  In the boys' division, Owosso's Tom Trecha qualified in 3rd but did not advance.
