Clio High School was the host for the second annual Flint Metro League Football Media Day on July 28. Varsity coaches and key returning players from all 8 varsity teams were made available to local print and television media for statements and interviews. This year's event was sponsored by the Black Horse Inn of Clio; the league appreciates their provision of food for all of the participants. In its first year as a member of the Flint Metro League, Flushing High School won the Flint Metro League's All Sports Trophy, symbolic of overall success in athletics over the entire school year.
Points are awarded based on the final standings in each of the 23 sports sponsored by the league, with a bonus point being given to the league champion in a sport. Flushing won championships in girls cross country, girls golf, volleyball, girls basketball, baseball, girls track and boys golf, and shared a championship with Holly in boys basketball. Flushing's accomplishment ends a string of eleven consecutive all sports championships by Fenton High School. Fenton has won 34 out of the 47 all sports championships since the Metro League was founded in 1968. Scoring for this year's all sports trophy competition may be found at the All Sports page of the Current Results section of this website, and the list of past winners is on the History section's All Sports Page. |
