The Holly Bronchos and the Flushing Raiders each became MHSAA Regional  tennis runner-ups and have  qualified as a team for the MHSAA State  Finals.
 
Earning Regional Championships in their flights for Holly were Andrew Spark  at #4 Singles and the #1 Doubles team of Ethan Postma and Casrsen Cuthbert.  Also qualifying for Holly:

            Braden Wilson - #2 Singles
            Tanner Cavender - #3 Singles
            Garrett Van Gilder/Jack Terry - #2 Doubles
            Wyatt Caldwell/Garrett Reid - #3 Doubles
            Trey Ridgway/Christian Sells - #4 Doubles
 
For the Raiders, Scott Branham - #3 Singles, Austin Shepp - #4 Singles, Jack Killingbeck/Matt Birchmeier - #2 Doubles, Grant Young/Chase Ward - #3 Doubles, and Jared Bissonnette/Torey Barber -#4 Doubles all earned flight runner-up titles.  Also qualifying for Flushing:
            Andrew Kearney - #1 Singles
            Jake Besko - #2 Singles
            Zack Mills/Josh Stemczynski - #1 Doubles
 
Fenton’s Gabe Hand earned a regional runner-up title in his flight at #1 Singles and will also advance to the State Finals.
 
The D2 MHSAA State Finals will be held at Kalamazoo College on October 20-21.

Fenton HS fired a team total of 354 at Fenton Farms to qualify as a team for the MHSAA D2 State Finals.  Keegan Miller shot 81 at Fenton Farms to finish 3rd overall, one stroke ahead of teammate Molly Gundry at 82 and 4th place individually.  Also qualifying from Fenton were Margaret Berry (93) in 13th, Brook Herbstreit (98) and Lily Horning (99).

Also finishing in the top ten and qualifying individually at Fenton Farms was Linden's Payton Leedle in 8th place with a 87.

At Currie West GC, Skyler Henry (81) from Swartz Creek and Grace Hoffman (83) from Kearsley also qualified as individuals to the state finals.

The D2 State Finals will be held on October 21 and 22 in Battle Creek at Bedford Valley.

The Flint Metro League is proud to name Taylor Shegos from Fenton and Tommy Plunkey from Kearsley as Athletes of the Month for October.

Taylor Shegos is participating in her fourth year of varsity swimming for the Tigers and has earned all-conference honors the past three years.  In her sophomore and junior years, Taylor won diving championships in the County and the Region as well as earning All-State honors.  As a junior, Taylor was named the MLive Swimmer/Diver of the year and also was named All-American.  As a senior, Taylor was again the County diving champion of the year.  Excelling in the classroom with a 3.9 GPA, Taylor plans to attend college on a diving scholarship.

Kearsley's Tommy Plunkey is a two-sport athlete for the Hornet's while maintaining a 3.5 GPA in the classroom.  A three-year starter in football, Captain Plunkey accumulated over 1,000 yards of rushing and 1,500 all-purpose yards on the gridiron where he was named Honorable Mention All-State in his junior year.  Tommy also earned 3rd Team All-Metro honors in track as a junior with the lead off leg of the 4x200 relay.  Tommy plans to major in Engineering beginning in the Fall.
