The girls' team from Kearsley won the Division 2 regional once again in convincing fashion and will head to the state finals in pursuit of another state title. Five Hornet bowlers qualified for the individual portion of the tournament led by Sara Ritchie in 1st place, Allison Robbins in 2nd, Emilea Sturk in 3rd, Alison Eible in 6th and Megan Timm in 8th. Also qualifying from the Metro League were Tori Vanderfuur from Swartz Creek in 2nd, Cassandra Most from Linden in 4th and Rebekah Muzyk from Goodrich in 6th.
The Swartz Creek Dragon (D1) and Kearsley Hornets (D2) each finished in 2nd place in Regionals in the boys division and will advance to the state final team competition. In singles competition, the Metro League had 7 boys qualify for the state finals: in D1, Nick Johnson in 7th and Griffin Henderson in 9th; and in D2 Howard Hammond 2nd, Gavin Haack in 6th, Nicholas Ruggles in 9th from Kearsley; Reese Martindale in 4th from Clio; and Justin Mallory from Holly. In D3, Corunna’s Brady Cornell finished in 2nd.
The Division 1 State Finals for this year will be held at Thunderbowl Bowl Lanes in Allen Park; D2 at Century Bowl in Waterford and Jax 60 in Jackson for D3 on March 26-27.
