25 individual wrestlers from Flint Metro League schools will compete at the MHSAA Individual wrestling finals March 6-7 at Ford Field. Among the top-four finishers at regional competition, the league, and Holly HS, had two regional champions. Jacob Gonzales from Holly was the Regional Champion at 135, and Cade Dallwitz was the Regional Champion at 189.

Cianna Gloster from Swartz Creek HS and Nate Young from Holly have been announced as the Flint Metro League Athletes of the Month in February for the Stripes Division.

Cianna is a three sport athlete for the Dragons lettering in basketball, volleyball and track.  A four year member of the varsity basketball team, Cianna has scored over 1,000 points and is the current school record holder for rebounds.  She has earned All League honors in each of the last three seasons and was named unanimous First Team as a junior.  Also a standout in track and field, Cianna currently holds the school record in the 300M hurdles.  The senior holds a 3.249 GPA and plans to study social work and continue her basketball career at one of the many collegiate schools involved in the recruiting process.  Cianna was also selected as the Flint Kiwanis Athlete of the Month and is now in the running for the Athlete of the Year.

​A two-time All Stater from Holly, Nate Young has been a standout wrestler for the Bronchos for four years.  Last year, Nate was the runner-up at the State meet at #130 and is currently ranked 3rd in the state at his weight division of #140.  Nate has also been on the 1st Team All League team as a champion in the last two seasons.  Recently, Nate was crowned both the District and Regional champion at #140.  Nate maintains a 3.47 GPA and will attend Northern Illinois on both an academic and athletic scholarship and will wrestle for the Huskies.

​Every Flint Metro League school has at least one wrestler moving on to the MHSAA Individual Regional round, the final step before qualifying for the state individual wrestling finals held on March 6-7 at Ford Field in Detroit.

Clio and Goodrich lead the way with 7 individual qualifiers from the district round of competition, followed by Holly and Corunna with 6, Flushing and Kearsley with 5, Lake Fenton and Linden with 4, Owosso and Fenton with 3, and Brandon and Swartz Creek with 1.

Best of luck to Flint Metro League MHSAA Team District champions as they advance to regionals this week:  Swartz Creek, Clio, Linden, Goodrich and Holly. 

The Flint Metro league announces Fenton's Julia Young and Joel Diccion as the female and male Athletes of the Month for January for the Stripes Division.

Julia Young is a two sport athlete lettering in both ski and soccer for the Tigers and serving as captain for both teams.  In ski, Julia was named to the All Region team as a junior and was a state qualifier in both the slalom and giant slalom.  Julia also plays soccer for Fenton and contributed to the team's league title last season.  Also excelling in the classroom with a 4.038 GPA, Julia has received numerous academic scholarships and will attend Findlay University majoring in Pre-Vet/Animal Science in her goal to become a veterinarian.

Joel Diccion has been a four year member of the Tiger swim team leading Fenton to numerous titles. He  earned first team honors in the 100 backstroke and 200 medley relay as a sophomore and junior, as well as the 400 free relay as a sophomore. Joel also was a state qualifier in the 200 m. relay and 100 back as both a sophomore and junior, along with the 100 fly and 400 free as a sophomore and 200 IM as a junior. He is the current school record holder in the 100 backstroke.  Joel has maintained a 3.915 GPA and plans to continue his swim career in college while studying astronomical engineering.
