Cianna Gloster from Swartz Creek HS and Nate Young from Holly have been announced as the Flint Metro League Athletes of the Month in February for the Stripes Division.
Cianna is a three sport athlete for the Dragons lettering in basketball, volleyball and track. A four year member of the varsity basketball team, Cianna has scored over 1,000 points and is the current school record holder for rebounds. She has earned All League honors in each of the last three seasons and was named unanimous First Team as a junior. Also a standout in track and field, Cianna currently holds the school record in the 300M hurdles. The senior holds a 3.249 GPA and plans to study social work and continue her basketball career at one of the many collegiate schools involved in the recruiting process. Cianna was also selected as the Flint Kiwanis Athlete of the Month and is now in the running for the Athlete of the Year.
A two-time All Stater from Holly, Nate Young has been a standout wrestler for the Bronchos for four years. Last year, Nate was the runner-up at the State meet at #130 and is currently ranked 3rd in the state at his weight division of #140. Nate has also been on the 1st Team All League team as a champion in the last two seasons. Recently, Nate was crowned both the District and Regional champion at #140. Nate maintains a 3.47 GPA and will attend Northern Illinois on both an academic and athletic scholarship and will wrestle for the Huskies.
