After winning the closest three-way contest in boys' cross country history, Clio's harriers were also recognized by four of their seven league opponents for showing the best sportsmanship over the course of the season. In one of the longest-lasting sportsmanship programs in Michigan, the Flint Metro League asks every varsity coach to name the opponent that showed the best sportsmanship that season. To be named by even one opponent as the best sports is admirable, and for coach Jimmy Dunn's team to receive a majority of their opponents' choices is very noteworthy.
Other league champions receiving selections from opponents for showing the best sportsmanship this fall were Fenton football (2 selections), Brandon boys' soccer (2 selections), Holly boys' tennis (1 selection), and Fenton girls' swim/dive (1 selection). Holly's girls's swim/dive team received 3 selections, as did Brandon and Kearsley boys' tennis, Fenton boys' soccer and Kearsley volleyball teams.
