The Flint Metro league announces Owosso's Katie Clevenger and Lake Fenton's Brenden Schroeder as the female and male Athletes of the Month for December.
Katie Clevenger is a two-time All State diver for Owosso in both her junior and senior seasons. Katie also earned All Metro honors, All County and All Regional honors as a diver in both her junior and senior years. Katie was also a member of the state qualifying medley relay team. She was named to the Lansing Dream Team as a senior. Katie also excels in track where she qualified for the state meet last year in the 4x100 relay. A scholar-athlete with a 3.92 GPA, Katie plans to pursue her diving and academic career at Oakland University where she will major in Marketing.
Brenden Schroeder is a two sport athlete for the Blue Devils lettering in cross country and track. A two time state qualifier, Brenden led Lake Fenton to a Regional Championship as a junior. As a senior, Brenden was selected as the team captain and earned a spot on the 2nd All Metro team. He also earned All County, All Regional honors and was selected as a State Bank Athlete of the Week. Sidelined by injury much of his junior track season, Brenden plans to run again this spring. The 3.09 scholar-athlete is currently undecided between the Air Force or continuing his cross country and track career at the collegiate level.
