Kearsley earned the top overall seed following the morning qualifying round. They first faced eighth-seeded Warren Regina in the quarterfinals where they cruised to a 1210-1008 victory. In the semifinals, the Hornets faced Bay City John Glenn, who they defeated by a 1223-1079 score. They then faced top-ranked Jackson in the championship match. The Kearsley girls came out firing in the two baker games shooting a 199 and 217. This gave them over a 100-pin lead going into the one regular game. Jackson shot 849 to the Hornets 833 but the sizable lead from the Baker games enable Kearsley to win by a comfortable margin 1249-1111.
The Hornets are the first school in Flint Metro League history to win three consecutive state championships in a sport. Congratulations to Coach Ploof and team members Alexis Roof, Karlee Griffin, Emma Boychuk, Barbara Hawes, Kayla Ward, Alexxa Flood, Hannah Ploof and Mary Wheeler on an incredible accomplishment!
Kearsley's boys' bowling team fell just short of their own three-peat, finishing as state runners-up to Lansing Eastern 1444-1288. Starting the afternoon as the second seed after the morning qualifying round, Kearsley defeated Escanaba 1283-998 in the quarterfinals and nipped St. Clair Shores Lakeshore in the semifinals 1263-1237.
