Coach JoEllen Smith and the Owosso softball team have advanced to the D2 MHSAA State Semis with a 5-4 victory over Wayland.
Wayland took the early lead in the game with 2-1 edge after the 1st inning and added another run in the top of the 6th. Owosso rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to send the game to extra innings. After holding Wayland off in the top of the 8th, the Trojans scored in the bottom of the 8th for the win.
Owosso will now face Gaylord in the semi-finals on Thursday June 17th at 10:00am at Michigan State University.
Linden dropped a close 3-1 game vs Marysville in the quarter-finals to end a highly successful season.
