Coach Smith entered the season with 723 wins, two shy of Dave Lazar, who won 725 at Fenton High School. JoEllen is now #21 on the current Michigan High School list for career softball wins.
Owosso appreciates what an outstanding coach they have in JoEllen Smith as best expressed by Athletic Director Dr. Dallas Lintner, “A collegiate All-American, MASA National Champion, and MASA Hall-of-Famer herself, Jo arguably means more to Shiawassee County fast-pitch than any other individual. She is a treasure. To truly get a feel for how special and deserving she is, you simply need to spend one hour with her on the diamond…or better yet, attend one of our games. It is not uncommon to find several Trojan alumni attending each and every one of her games. She is certainly a great coach for us, and she has mentored many athletes that have become outstanding coaches and educators themselves. “
The Flint Metro League also shares in congratulating Coach Smith on her outstanding accomplishment and welcomes her Owosso Trojans to the league!
