Three Flint Metro League schools brought home MHSAA team wrestling trophies in the first round of the MHSAA tournament. In Division 1, Flushing won the district hosted at Saginaw Arthur Hill by defeating Saginaw Heritage 60-15 in the district final match. In Division 2, Goodrich won its district by defeating FML foe Kearsley 66-7. League champion Lake Fenton won the district held at Linden by defeating cross town rival Fenton 41-36.
Flushing will travel to Midland to compete against the home team on Wednesday, February 15 at 6:00. Goodrich and Lake Fenton will wrestle at Waterford Kettering also on Wednesday, 2/15, at 5:30. Goodrich will compete against Waterford Kettering and Lake Fenton will battle St. John’s in the semi-finals.
Regional winners advance to team finals weekend at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo on February 24 (quarterfinals) and 25 (semifinals and state championship match).
